Foal – Anthony Watts

On Thorncombe Hill

I saw the world

balanced

upon four saplings

itself-begetting

in the dew of the foal’s eyes

who whinnying

down nostrils newly bored

printed upon that

immemorial quietude

his infant sneeze.
